Being sports parents is not an easy task. We all want our kids to succeed in life not matter what, however sometime we try to live our athletic' dreams through our kids' life.
What can we do to be good sports parents?
We should keep in mind not to push our kids into a sport that doesn't interest them. We may introduce them to as many sports as we can...golf, tennis, soccer etc. but we should never choose their sports for them.
There's nothing worse than forcing a child into a sport they hate!.
When kids are enjoying their sports...you should stay back and let your kids know that you are there to support them and encourage them. It's important for you to be involved but not obsessed with your kids' sports performances.
You should have faith in your kids' sports abilities. Take my advice with you...just enjoy watching your kid having fun when discovering and playing his/her favorite sports. Don't be negative by focusing on errors. Give positive comments instead.
From time to time you should carefully re-evaluate your
sports parent influence.
If you think you are too pushy…step back for a moment, relax and reinforce your positive thought by telling yourself (loudly) that you love watching your son or daughter having fun during practice and that he/she should always have fun during competitive game too.
